RV Solar Moisture Problems: How to Protect Your Equipment from Humidity

If you’ve got solar equipment installed in your RV storage bay, humidity is something worth paying attention to, especially if you spend time in places like Florida or along the Gulf Coast.
It’s not always obvious, but moisture can slowly build up and cause issues over time.
Why Humidity Matters
Most RV solar components, including Victron equipment, are rated IP20 or IP22.
That basically means they’re protected from solid objects, but not from moisture in the air. So if your system is sitting in a storage bay that isn’t air-conditioned, it’s exposed to whatever humidity is around it.
Over time, that can lead to:
Moisture settling on components
Corrosion
Reduced performance
A Simple Fix That Actually Helps
One of the easiest ways to deal with this is to add a moisture absorber inside the bay.
We’ve seen good results using products like Eva-Dry. They’re small, rechargeable units that pull moisture out of the air. You let it sit in the compartment while it absorbs moisture, then plug it in about once a month to dry it back out and reuse it.
When You Should Consider It
This is worth adding if:
Your electrical setup is in a non-climate-controlled compartment
You travel through or store your RV in humid areas
You’ve ever opened a bay and felt that damp air
It’s a small step, but it can help protect some pretty expensive equipment.
